What's the weight of an empty ADA-compliant portable toilet?

I'm renting an ADA-compliant portable toilet for a wedding on a temporary wooden deck. The deck builder wants the weight of an empty unit before he finishes construction. I know a standard unit weighs about 200 pounds, but the ADA unit is larger with a wider door, grab bars and more interior space. I assume it's heavier because of the extra materials and a bigger holding tank. The deck is built on level grass, and the delivery truck can pull right up to it. Does anyone know the typical empty weight for an ADA unit? Should the deck builder reinforce it beyond what a standard unit would need?

An empty ADA-compliant portable toilet typically weighs 250 to 300 pounds. It is heavier than a standard unit because it is larger, has a wider door, internal grab bars, and often a larger holding tank.

You should tell your deck builder that weight. The deck should support at least 300 pounds concentrated on the unit's footprint, which is about five feet by five feet. The unit also needs to be placed on level ground to prevent tipping. Since the deck is on grass, the builder should ensure the structure is stable and the unit is secured with staking and tie-downs if the area is windy.

For your wedding, remember that the ADA cluster rule requires at least one ADA-compliant unit when you have a cluster of portable toilets. A good planning guideline for events is about one unit per 50 to 75 people for a four-hour event, but you should add more units if you are serving alcohol or the event is longer. Weekly service is the norm, but for a single-day event like a wedding, the rental company will typically service the units after the event is over.
