6-month garage build: monthly rental or pay-per-service?

I'm starting a six-month detached garage build in my backyard. I need one portable toilet for myself and the crew of three to four workers, five days a week. The ground where I'd put it is level gravel, and a vacuum truck can back right up to it, so truck access is no problem. I got a quote for a standard unit, but the rental company offered two billing options: a flat monthly rate or a pay-per-service plan. On a project this long, which one usually works out cheaper? Does the pay-per-service option make you more likely to stretch the time between cleanings and risk it getting overwhelmed?

The monthly rental rate is cheaper for a six-month project with weekly service. A pay-per-service plan costs more because each service visit has a separate charge. The rental company's monthly rate includes the weekly service, the unit rental, and the delivery fee in one price.

A standard unit meets OSHA requirements for a crew of four workers. OSHA 1926.51 requires one toilet for 20 or fewer workers. You do not need an ADA-compliant unit or a handwash station for a private build, but adding a handwash station improves sanitation.

Weekly service is the norm. Do not stretch the time between cleanings. A standard unit holds 50 to 70 gallons. Four workers using it five days a week will fill the holding tank in about a week. Stretching service risks overflow and odor. The rental company may charge extra for an emergency service if you skip a scheduled visit.
