Do all restroom trailers need a generator for power?

I'm planning a three-day outdoor wedding reception for 150 guests on a rural property. We're serving a full meal and alcohol, so I know we need reliable restrooms. A restroom trailer would be ideal for the guest experience, but the site has no electrical hookups. The ground is level grass, and a truck can reach the placement spot easily. I'm trying to figure out if every restroom trailer absolutely requires a generator for power, or if some models can run on battery or solar. Do all units need constant power for the flushing mechanism and lights, or are there options for off-grid events?

No, not all restroom trailers require a generator, but most do need constant power. A restroom trailer needs electricity to operate its flushing toilets, interior and exterior lights, ventilation fans, and sometimes heating or air conditioning. Some smaller models might have battery backups for limited use, but batteries alone cannot sustain a full three-day event with 150 guests. Solar power is rare and typically insufficient for the high energy demands of pumps and lighting in a restroom trailer.

For your wedding, a generator is the practical choice. You will need a restroom trailer with enough stalls, plan for one unit per 50 to 75 people, and add more due to the meal, alcohol, and three-day duration. The trailer must be placed on level ground, and a vacuum truck will need access for pumping the holding tanks. Service frequency depends on use; for heavy events, expect mid-event servicing. The rental quote includes delivery, the unit, and often the generator; confirm what is included.
