We're planning a Saturday afternoon birthday party in our backyard for about 50 people, kids and adults, with food and drinks outside for maybe five hours. The house bathroom is tiny and I do not want a line through the living room. I called about a standard portable toilet plus a handwash station and they said weekend inventory gets tight in late spring.

How far ahead do people usually reserve for a one-day party rental so you still get the date you want? Is a week enough, or do you need closer to a month out in busy season? If they are low on units that weekend, what do they usually offer instead of just saying no?

A week can still work when their yard is quiet that weekend, but late spring Saturdays fill first. I have had planners call about ten days out and get told every standard was already spoken for on that date.

When inventory is short they usually do not just hang up. Common offers I have seen:
- swap to a deluxe unit if they still have those on the truck
- deliver Friday afternoon and pick up Monday morning so the one-day party still fits their route
- place the unit on a neighbor-facing side of the yard if the preferred spot blocks their truck
- hold a waitlist and call you if a cancel lands

Book the handwash with the toilet in the same reservation. Separating those two lines is how people end up with a toilet and no sink on party day.

Lock the date in writing (email or text) once they confirm. A verbal "we should have something" is not a hold.
