Can a portable toilet be locked overnight at an unattended job site?

Portable toilet security is my concern because our renovation property is vacant overnight and the unit has already attracted attention from passersby. I want to keep it available for the crew during the day without leaving it open after the gate is locked.

Is it reasonable to use a lock or strap after the last worker leaves, or can that damage the door and service hardware? How do operators usually handle access on service days when the site is closed? I can leave a key in a marked lockbox or give the service team a code, but I do not want to create a safety problem or make the unit impossible to reach.
