Porta Potty Forum

HOA family day with a lot of babies and toddlers. Do any porta potties come with a fold down changing table?

Our HOA is doing a family day on the common lawn next Saturday, roughly 10 to 4. Going by the RSVPs we'll have maybe 90 people, and a good chunk of them are parents with babies and toddlers. Last spring we had two standard units and a handwash station, and I watched a mom try to change a diaper on a folding chair next to them. Not great.

Is a baby changing table something you can actually get inside a portable unit, or is that only in the bigger ADA units or trailers? If it's an add on, does it fold up against the wall so it doesn't crowd a regular stall? And for the toddlers, is there anything shorter or kid sized, or do people just bring a step stool? Trying to sort this out before I call for the quote.

Yes, you can get a standard portable toilet with a fold-down baby changing table installed. It's a common add-on for family events. The table folds flat against the interior wall when not in use, so it doesn't take up much space in a regular stall. It's not exclusive to ADA-compliant units or restroom trailers, though those larger units might offer more room for maneuvering.

For toddlers, there are no kid-sized portable toilets; parents typically bring a step stool. Your event size of 90 people for six hours fits the guideline of about one unit per 50 to 75 people, but with many young children, consider adding an extra unit or two to reduce wait times and improve comfort. Include a handwash station for hygiene. Service isn't needed for a one-day event, but if you extend the rental, weekly servicing is standard. When quoting, specify the changing table feature, it may add a small cost due to the extra hardware and cleaning.
