Porta Potty Forum

Our corn maze closes after Halloween. Do they pump the porta potties before hauling them off, or load them full?

We rent two standard units and one ADA unit for our corn maze, and they've been out since mid September on weekly service. Halloween weekend is our last one, then we're done for the year. I called to set up the pickup and the office just said they'd grab them sometime the first week of November.

A couple things I want to sort out before I call back. Does the driver pump the tanks on the spot before loading, or do the units go on the truck as is? If they pump first, I'm guessing I need room for the vacuum truck and the flatbed to both get back by the maze entrance, which is just a grass lane.

Also, after that last weekend the units will sit close to a week with a full Saturday and Sunday in them. Is that going to stink up the farm stand next door, or should I ask for one more service on Monday?

The driver pumps the tanks on the spot before loading the units. The vacuum truck arrives first to pump the waste, then the flatbed truck loads the empty units. You need truck access for both vehicles: the vacuum truck needs to get within about 25 feet of the units, and the flatbed needs a clear path to load them. Your grass lane must handle both trucks, so confirm the weight and ground conditions with the rental company.

After Halloween weekend, the units will sit with heavy use inside. A full weekend in two standard units and one ADA unit will create odor, especially if the weather is warm. The farm stand next door will likely notice. Ask for a final service visit on Monday after your event. The driver will pump the tanks, recharge the deodorizer, and restock paper, which controls odor until pickup. Without that service, the units will smell stronger each day.

Call the office back to schedule both the Monday service and the pickup. Specify that you need the vacuum truck and flatbed to access the grass lane, and ask if the ground is firm enough for heavy trucks after rain.
