Haunted corn maze on our farm Friday and Saturday nights: do the scare actors inside need their own porta potty?

We're turning the back cornfield into a haunted maze for the last three weekends of October. Friday and Saturday nights, 7 to 11, with about 15 high school and college kids working as scare actors spread out along the paths. Visitors park in the hay field and the porta potties for them are going by the ticket wagon, so that part feels covered.

The problem is the actors. Once they're in position nobody wants to walk ten minutes out through screaming crowds in costume, and when we tried a smaller version last year one of them just went in the corn.

Is it normal to put a standard unit back inside the maze just for staff? The only way in is a tractor lane, so I honestly don't know if the vacuum truck can get back there, especially after rain. And does a staff only unit need some kind of light inside, since it's going to be pitch black out there?

Yes, staff need their own standard unit inside the maze. OSHA 1926.51 requires one toilet for every 20 or fewer employees at a fixed work site, and your 15 actors qualify. The unit prevents workers from leaving their posts or relieving themselves in the field.

Place the unit on the tractor lane for truck access. A vacuum truck needs firm ground, so avoid soft or muddy areas. Schedule a service visit after each weekend since 15 people over two nights will fill the holding tank quickly. Add a solar light on top for visibility and safety in the dark maze.
