What's the real benefit of a handwash station over just a hand sanitizer dispenser at a food truck rally?
I'm coordinating a one-day food truck rally for about 500 people in a city park. The health department requires handwashing facilities for any event with food vendors, but I'm weighing options. I could mount a hand sanitizer dispenser on each standard portable toilet cluster, which is cheaper and simpler, or rent separate handwash stations with soap, water, and paper towels. The ground is level grass, and a truck can access the perimeter for delivery and service. What's the real benefit of the handwash station over just sanitizer in this context? Does the health department actually check for running water, or is sanitizer sufficient if it's alcohol-based?
