Auctioning my dad's farm equipment on site, maybe 250 people over the day: how many porta potties and where?

Following up from the celebration of life we held at my dad's place. We decided to sell his equipment and the auctioneer is running it right on the farm the first Saturday in November. Gates open at 8, selling starts at 10, and he guesses 200 to 250 people coming and going until about 3. Mostly men, a lot of older farmers, and one food truck parked by the machine shed. The house is on a well with an old septic so nobody is using the inside bathroom.

Parking is the hayfield across the lane and the equipment is lined up in rows behind the barn. How many standard units should I order? Do I need an ADA unit even though it's private property? And is it better to set them by the parking or by the food truck?

Order four standard units and one ADA unit for your auction. The ADA Standards for Accessible Design require an accessible unit in any cluster of portable toilets provided to the public, even on private property. Your event has 250 people over seven hours with food service, so the one unit per 50 to 75 people guideline means you need more than the minimum. Place the units together on level ground near the food truck, not the parking. This keeps guests from walking across the lane to use the restroom and puts facilities where people gather. Older attendees will appreciate a shorter walk. Cluster the five units with the ADA unit at the end for clear access. Add a handwash station with the food truck. Service is not needed for a one-day event, but confirm the rental company will pump and clean them after pickup. The cost depends on the number of units, delivery distance, and any add-ons like the handwash station.
