October 2026 wedding: can we put a porta potty on a sloped lawn?

We're getting married in my parents' backyard in October 2026. The ceremony site is on a flat area, but the only practical spot for a portable toilet is on a gentle slope leading up to the garden. It's a grassy lawn, and a delivery truck could drive right up to the spot. We'll have about 140 guests for about six hours, with a catered dinner and an open bar. I'm worried about putting a standard portable toilet on a slope. Will it be stable enough for guests to use safely? Do rental companies have a way to level a unit on a hill, or is a restroom trailer a better option for uneven ground?

A rental company can place a standard portable toilet on a gentle slope. The crew uses wooden blocks or plastic leveling pads under the unit's base to make it stable. Staking and tie-downs are added to prevent the unit from tipping. The slope must be gentle enough that the crew can level the unit safely.

For your wedding with 140 guests over six hours with an open bar, the standard event guideline of one unit per 50 to 75 people suggests you need more than the minimum count. The alcohol and duration mean you should add units to prevent long lines. An ADA-compliant unit is required if you have a cluster of portable toilets.

A restroom trailer is not a better option for a slope. A restroom trailer requires perfectly level ground to function correctly; its doors and plumbing will not work if the trailer is not level. The standard unit is the practical choice for your sloped lawn. The rental company will confirm the slope is acceptable at the site survey.
