2026 PSAI guidelines: Any new rules for formaldehyde-free deodorizer labeling?

I'm updating our safety data sheets and material handling procedures. We use a formaldehyde-free deodorizer in all our units, standard, deluxe, ADA-compliant and restroom trailers. A distributor mentioned the Portable Sanitation Association International might be drafting new guidelines for 2026 about labeling and disclosing deodorizer ingredients to customers. I haven't seen anything official yet. Has anyone else heard this? What details are they pushing for, full ingredient lists, safety symbols, or just formaldehyde-free claims? I want to get ahead of any changes before our next print run.

I haven't seen any official 2026 PSAI guidelines on deodorizer labeling changes. The Portable Sanitation Association International updates standards like ANSI Z4.3 periodically, but new rules for formaldehyde-free deodorizer disclosure aren't public yet. My distributor hasn't mentioned it either.

If they do push for changes, it'll likely focus on clearer formaldehyde-free claims and safety symbols, not full ingredient lists. Most operators switched to formaldehyde-free formulas years ago because wastewater treatment plants restrict formaldehyde waste. Labeling updates usually aim to prevent misuse and ensure proper handling by drivers during service visits.

For now, keep your safety data sheets current with what you're using. When the PSAI releases new guidelines, they'll publish them on their site and through industry channels. No need to rush your print run until it's official.
