ANSI Z4.3

Also called: Z4.3, nonsewered waste disposal standard

ANSI Z4.3 is the American National Standard for minimum requirements for nonsewered waste-disposal systems, the reference document for how portable toilets are built, sized, placed and serviced. The Portable Sanitation Association International (PSAI) is its secretariat.

Rental companies, event organizers and some health departments use Z4.3 as the technical basis for capacity, servicing and sanitation practice. It is a voluntary standard unless a contract or a local rule adopts it.

When a permit application or a contract says units must meet industry standards, this is the standard it means.
