Can a porta potty sit unused for two months without service?

I have a standard portable toilet at a remote hunting cabin in Montana. It's on gravel ground, and the service truck has to drive 40 miles on a ranch road to reach it. The cabin won't be used for the next two months, so the unit will sit completely unused. I'm wondering if it needs a service visit during that time or if it's fine to just leave it. The holding tank has the usual deodorizer in it, but I'm not sure if that goes bad or if anything else happens when a porta potty isn't used. Should I schedule a service anyway, or can I wait until we're back?

You can leave an unused standard unit for two months without a mid-idle service visit if the holding tank was pumped and recharged before the cabin closed, but I would not park it full of old liquid and walk away.

I have left units sit for long stretches on remote jobs. With no foot traffic the tank does not fill, so the big risk is not overflow. What does go sideways is the charge. Deodorizer weakens over time even with zero use, and in heat or freeze thaw the leftover liquid can turn sour and the walls get that stale ammonia smell before anyone returns.

Montana winters make it worse if temps drop. Residual water in the tank and traps can freeze and stress the shell. If the cabin is truly empty for two months, ask for a pump and fresh charge before you lock up, then skip service until you reopen. If the tank already has weeks of use in it, schedule one visit now so you are not opening the door to a mess later.

Also worth a quick check that the door is latched and the unit is still level on the gravel so wind or animals do not tip things.
