Do all restroom trailers need a fresh water hookup?

I'm looking at renting a restroom trailer for a weekend wedding at a ranch outside Austin. We'll have about 150 guests over two days, with catering and an open bar. The site has level ground and good truck access for delivery, but there's no water spigot anywhere near where we'd place the trailer. I know some trailers have onboard fresh water tanks, but I'm not sure if that's standard or an extra. Do all restroom trailers need a fresh water hookup, or can they operate independently with a tank? If they can, how often would a tank need refilling for a group that size?

Not all restroom trailers need a fresh water hookup. Many self-contained models are designed with an onboard fresh water tank that allows them to operate independently.

A restroom trailer with a tank is the right choice for your ranch wedding since you lack a water spigot. You must confirm with the rental company that the specific unit you are renting has a sufficient tank capacity. The size of the tank determines how often it needs refilling. For 150 guests over two days with an open bar, which increases usage, the tank will need to be refilled at least once, possibly more, during the event. The rental company will typically handle this as part of the service, but you must arrange the schedule.

A restroom trailer also requires electrical power, either from a generator or a dedicated circuit, and must be placed on level ground. The need for an onboard tank and generator instead of hookups will affect the rental cost.
