Can you add a solar light to a standard porta potty?

I'm planning a backyard evening wedding reception for 140 guests with a band and a tent, running about six hours with dinner and an open bar. We'll have a few standard portable toilets placed on the lawn, which is flat and has good truck access. Once the sun goes down, I'm worried it will be too dark for guests to see the units or find the door. Is it possible to attach a solar light to a standard porta potty, or do we need to upgrade to a deluxe model or restroom trailer that has built-in lighting? What do people do for evening events?

Yes, you can add a solar light for a standard portable toilet at an evening reception. Most folks do not drill into the plastic. They clip a small solar puck on the roof lip or set a stake light a few feet in front of the door so guests can see the latch and the path.

A standard unit usually has no built-in lighting. Deluxe cabins and many restroom trailers ship with interior lights, but for a lawn wedding with truck access you do not need those just for night visibility. Aim the light at the door, not into the cook tent or the band, and keep the unit on flat ground so the stake does not tip.

If the reception runs past dark with an open bar, put at least one light on every cluster so guests are not guessing which door is which. Confirm with your rental company before you attach anything to their unit. Some shops will hang a light for you on delivery, and some would rather you use freestanding path lights only.

I have done backyard evening events this way with no issues as long as the light charged during the day and the path stayed clear.
