Do we need a separate handwashing station with a standard porta potty?

We're hosting a family reunion in the backyard next Saturday, roughly 40 to 50 people over six hours with finger food and kids running around. The quote came back as one standard unit and nobody mentioned a handwashing station. There's no outdoor sink at the house, so I'm not sure if the little alcohol gel dispenser on the unit is enough or if we should add a real wash station.

The unit would sit on level grass along the fence where a truck can pull within about 15 feet. Delivery Saturday morning, pickup Sunday. Do most weekend event rentals pair a hand wash station with the toilet, or is that mostly for bigger catering setups? If we add one, does the driver fill the water tank on delivery or do we handle that ourselves?

Yes, you should add a separate handwash station for a family reunion of that size. The alcohol gel dispenser on the standard unit is not a substitute for running water with soap. A handwash station provides a foot-pump sink with fresh water, soap, and a paper towel dispenser, which is much more effective for food events and kids.

For weekend events, pairing a standard unit with a handwash station is common practice, not just for large catering. Your quote likely omitted it because it's an add-on, not an automatic inclusion. The driver will deliver the station with its fresh water tank already filled; you don't need to handle that.
