Service truck access on soft ground after November 2026 rains

We have a standard portable toilet on our residential addition site in Chicago. The ground was firm when it was placed in October, but the November rains turned the entire site to mud. The unit is about 50 feet from the street, and the service truck needs to drive across the soft ground to reach it for weekly pumping. I'm worried the vacuum truck will get stuck during the next service visit, especially if it rains again. Has anyone dealt with this? What's the best way to ensure access, should I ask the rental company to bring mats or planks, or is there something I need to do on my end to stabilize the path?

Ask your rental company to bring out track mats or temporary road plates for the vacuum truck. The operator should have these on hand for soft ground. You must also prepare the site by laying down a base of crushed rock or gravel over the access path to stabilize it, and confirm the truck can park within 25 feet of the unit. A blocked unit results in a missed service, and the trip is billed. Weekly service is standard for a standard portable toilet on a construction site. Heavy rain, mud, and winter freeze conditions increase the risk of access issues, so proactive ground preparation is necessary.
