Our HOA community garden closes Nov 15. Pause service or haul off?

Our HOA community garden has a standard portable toilet that our members use from April through November. It sits on level grass near the entrance, and the rental company's vacuum truck can pull right up to it. With the garden closing on November 15, no one will be using it all winter. I'm trying to decide whether to pause the weekly service visits or have the unit hauled away until spring. Pausing service might save some money, but I worry about the holding tank sitting unused for months. Has anyone dealt with a seasonal shutdown like this? What did your HOA or group choose to do?

Have the unit hauled away until spring. A standard portable toilet sitting unused for months with waste in the holding tank can develop issues like odor buildup, even with a formaldehyde-free deodorizer, and the rental company may charge for winter storage or missed service if you pause. Since your garden closes November 15 and no one uses it all winter, removing it avoids those risks. The rental company will handle the haul-away and spring redelivery, which typically costs less than paying for a unit that sits idle. I paused service on a unit during a renovation break and regretted it, the first service after was rough. For seasonal setups, haul-off is the cleaner choice.
