Hunting camp November 2026: 8 people for 14 days. Service frequency?

Setting up a hunting camp for eight people for two weeks in late November 2026. It's remote Montana, no utilities, and the ground is frozen dirt with some snow cover. A vacuum truck can reach the spot, but it's a rough 40-mile drive from town. I'm thinking two standard units since we don't need flushing, but I'm unsure about service frequency. Cold weather means everything freezes solid overnight. The crew will be eating camp food and no alcohol. How often should I schedule service visits to keep things functional without overpaying? Should I consider a different unit type for this setup?

Two standard units with one service visit in the middle of the two weeks is a sensible plan for eight people, and a second unit matters more than extra pumping. With only one toilet, eight hunters will fill it unevenly and you will be the one hauling out a full tank, so splitting use across two keeps either from getting nasty.

On our own land we ran a camp like this and the thing that surprised me was freezing. Overnight freeze mostly just locks the waste in place, and the real risk is the fresh side of the tank or the pump on a sink unit locking up, so skip any hand wash unit with a water tank unless you can keep it above freezing. Ask the provider to charge the tanks with a winter rated chemical mix, since the regular blue mix thins out in the cold.

The 40 mile rough road is the actual scheduling problem. A vacuum truck will not turn around for a single unit on short notice, so book the mid stay service date when you book delivery and ask what happens if snow closes the road that day. Put the units on level, packed ground away from your water source, and keep the doors facing away from the prevailing wind.
