Relatives camping on our land for a week long reunion. Can they empty their camper toilets into the rented porta potty?

We're hosting my wife's side of the family for a reunion on our five acres the first week of November. Probably 25 people, and four of the families are bringing campers and parking them out by the tree line. We've got two standard units and a handwash station coming for the week.

My brother in law already asked if he can just carry his cassette toilet over and dump it down the porta potty every morning instead of driving to a dump station 40 minutes away. Two of the other campers have regular black tanks, and someone floated hooking up a hose and draining into the unit.

Is that something the rental company would actually care about? Will a standard unit even hold that on top of 25 people for a week, or do I need to call and ask for an extra service? I'd rather not get hit with a surprise fee or a mess nobody wants to clean.

The rental company will care and likely prohibit draining camper toilets into a standard unit. A standard unit has a 50 to 70 gallon holding tank designed only for human waste and the deodorizer solution added by the service crew. Camper black water or cassette waste introduces different solids, chemicals, and volumes that can clog the tank, damage the unit, or contaminate the waste stream, violating the rental agreement and local health codes. For 25 people over a week, two units are already at the lower end of the event guideline (about one unit per 50 people), and adding camper waste would exceed capacity quickly, risking overflows. Call the rental company to explain the situation. They may recommend an extra service visit or a dedicated holding tank for camper waste, but dumping into portable toilets is not standard practice and could incur fees for cleaning or damage.

Brooke is right about the rental company prohibiting camper waste, but she didn't mention the driver's inspection. The service driver checks the holding tank contents during pumping. Camper waste has a different consistency and often contains chemicals that alter the waste color and odor, which the driver will notice immediately. This violates the rental agreement because it complicates waste disposal at the treatment plant. For your group size and duration, two standard units are already minimal. Adding camper waste would require at least one extra midweek service visit to prevent overflows, but the rental company still won't allow the dumping. Tell your relatives to use the dump station.
