Restroom trailer for October 2026 wedding: power from house outlet?

We're planning an outdoor wedding for 120 guests in October 2026, running from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. with dinner and an open bar. The venue has a gravel parking lot where we can place a restroom trailer, and my truck can pull right up to the spot. I want to avoid renting a noisy generator for restroom trailers if possible. The house has a standard outdoor 120V outlet about 50 feet away. Can I run a restroom trailer off that, or will it trip the circuit? What's the typical power draw for a four-stall unit with lights, flushing toilets, and maybe a small heater?

A standard house outlet will not power a four-stall restroom trailer with lights, flushing toilets, and a heater. The electrical load is too high. Restroom trailers require dedicated circuits or a generator.

A four-stall restroom trailer with flushing toilets, interior lighting, and a small heater typically draws between 15 and 30 amps continuously when in use. A standard 120V household outlet is on a 15 or 20 amp circuit, often shared with other outlets or lights in the house. Running the trailer will trip the circuit breaker, especially if the heater cycles on.

You have two options. Run a heavy-duty extension cord from a dedicated 20 amp outlet, but this only works if the trailer's total draw is under 20 amps and no other devices use that circuit. Or rent a generator, which is the reliable choice. Place the generator away from the reception area to reduce noise. Your gravel lot and truck access are ideal for placement and service. The rental company will confirm power requirements when you book.
