Door latch snapped on our driveway porta potty mid remodel: call the company now or wait for service day?

We're three weeks into gutting our only bathroom and the porta potty in the driveway has been fine until last night, when the little slide latch on the inside of the door snapped off. Now the door drifts open whenever there's any wind, and my teenage daughter flat out refuses to use it.

Service is every Thursday and it's only Monday night. The rental agreement mentions a damage waiver but I didn't take it, so I'm a little nervous about calling and getting billed for a part I didn't break. The tile crew uses it all day too, so it gets a lot of traffic.

Is a broken latch normally treated as wear and tear that the company just fixes, or does that land on me? And can I screw a hook and eye on the inside as a stopgap, or does drilling into their door cause problems on their end?

Call the company now to report the broken latch. A broken latch is normal wear and tear on a rental standard unit, not damage you caused. The rental agreement without a damage waiver means you pay for deliberate damage, not for parts that break from heavy use. Tile crews and family traffic wear out latches. Do not screw a hook and eye into the door. Drilling holes violates the rental contract and creates a repair issue for the company. They will send a technician to replace the latch or the entire door if needed. Service visits for repairs are separate from the regular service visit schedule. Expect a trip charge if the repair requires a special visit, but the part itself should be covered as maintenance. Get the door fixed properly to keep it usable and avoid wind problems.
