Rec league fields: should weekly porta potty service come Friday before games or Monday after?

I help run a volunteer rec soccer league and we have two standard units sitting at the fields through the end of November. Games are Saturday and Sunday, practices are Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and the rest of the week the park is pretty quiet aside from dog walkers.

Right now the weekly service lands on Wednesday, which means by Sunday afternoon the units are rough and nobody wants to go near them. Parents have started complaining to the board.

Would it make more sense to move the visit to Friday so everything is fresh for game days? Or is Monday better since that comes right after the heaviest use and the tank isn't sitting full for days? Is it normal to ask the operator to change the service day mid-season, or do routes not really work that way? We would rather not add a second weekly visit if we can avoid it.

Move the weekly service visit to Friday before the games.

The goal is to have a clean unit when it is needed most, which is on the weekend for your soccer league. A Wednesday service leaves the units dirty and unappealing for the Sunday games. A Friday service ensures the holding tanks are fresh and the interiors are clean for the peak usage on Saturday and Sunday.

A Monday service would clean up after the weekend, but then the units would sit with waste for the entire week until the next heavy use. This can lead to stronger odors and a less sanitary condition. Since the fields are quiet during the week, it is better to have the service timed for the beginning of the busy period.

It is normal to ask the rental company to change the service day. Routes can often be adjusted, though a company may charge a small fee for a route change depending on their schedule. The cost of a second weekly service would be higher, so adjusting the single visit is the more economical solution. Explain the usage pattern to your operator; they should understand the logic of servicing before the weekend rush.
