Restroom trailer for a December 2026 wedding: do we need a heated fresh water hose?

We're renting a four-stall restroom trailer for an outdoor wedding reception in December 2026. The forecast says temps will be near freezing. The trailer has an onboard fresh water tank, but the venue has a spigot we can hook up to for a continuous supply. I'm worried about the hose freezing overnight or during the event. The ground is grassy and level, and our delivery spot is about 50 feet from the spigot. Do we need a heated fresh water hose, or will insulating the hose be enough? Should we just rely on the onboard tank and refill it if needed?

Yes, you need a heated fresh water hose for a restroom trailer in near-freezing temperatures. A standard garden hose will freeze solid overnight and block water flow, leaving your guests without flushing toilets or running water at the sinks. Insulating the hose only delays freezing; it does not prevent it. Relying solely on the onboard fresh water tank is risky because a four-stall restroom trailer uses water quickly with flushing toilets and sinks, and you may need multiple refills during the event. A heated hose maintains a consistent water supply without interruption. Confirm with your rental company that they provide a heated hose rated for freezing conditions, as some include it as part of winter service or offer it as an add-on. Also, ensure the spigot at the venue is frost-free or protected, as a frozen spigot will defeat the purpose of the heated hose. Plan for the hose to run along the ground without kinks or dips where water can pool and freeze.
