Can a high-rise unit be serviced from the ground floor?

The standard procedure is to move the unit down to the ground floor for each service visit and then return it. A vacuum truck cannot reach the 8th floor, and the operator's hose is not long enough to pump from that height.

When the driver arrives, you'll need a forklift or material hoist to lower the unit to the truck. The driver will service it (pump, clean, add deodorizer, restock paper) and then you'll lift it back up. Some contracts include this lift-and-return as part of the service, but others charge extra for the labor time. The alternative is to keep a unit on the ground and let crews come down, but that costs productivity. There's no magic hose that reaches 8 stories.
