Can I put a privacy fence or screen around the porta potty on my driveway?

We're six weeks into a bathroom remodel and our only toilet is a standard unit on the driveway. It sits where anyone walking the sidewalk can see it straight on. Neighbors have been fine so far, but I'd rather not leave it fully exposed for the rest of the job.

Can I put a temporary privacy fence or lattice panels around three sides of a rented porta potty? I want to keep the door clear and leave room for the vacuum truck to reach the tank on the weekly service visit. Driveway is flat concrete.

Do rental companies care as long as service access stays open, or do they ban screens altogether? Looking for real spacing tips so wind does not push the panels into the unit.

Yes, temporary privacy panels on three sides of a rented standard unit are fine if the door stays clear and the vacuum truck can still reach the tank on the weekly service visit.

Most outfits care about access, not the screen itself. On flat concrete I use freestanding lattice or construction fencing with sandbags or weighted feet. Do not tie anything to the plastic walls or dig posts that pin the unit in place. Leave a gap so a gust does not shove a panel into the unit, and keep the roof vents open.

Confirm which face has the service port before you build. Leave that side open to the street so the hose path is straight from the truck. Point the door toward the house or yard rather than the sidewalk if you can, so walkers are not staring into the entrance.

Shoot the vendor a photo of the setup before the next service day. That way the driver knows how to approach and you avoid a missed pump because they thought the fence blocked them.
