Restroom trailer for backyard wedding: power from house outlet?

We're planning our wedding for next April on my parents' property in Charleston. We'll have 140 guests, a tent, a band, dinner and an open bar, so we're looking at a restroom trailer instead of standard units. The rental company mentioned we need a dedicated 20-amp circuit for the trailer, but running a heavy-duty extension cord from the house seems easier than dealing with a generator. The house is about 75 feet from where the trailer would sit, on level grass. Can a restroom trailer run off a regular outdoor outlet, or do we really need to upgrade the circuit? Also, does the trailer need its own water hookup, or do they come with a tank?

A restroom trailer cannot run off a regular outdoor outlet; it requires a dedicated 20-amp circuit as specified by the rental company. Standard household outlets share circuits with other appliances, and the trailer's lighting, flushing pumps, and heating elements draw consistent power. A heavy-duty extension cord over 75 feet will cause voltage drop, risking pump failure or tripped breakers during peak use.

Restroom trailers typically include an onboard fresh water tank and a holding tank for waste, so they do not need a permanent water hookup. The rental company will fill the fresh water tank before delivery and pump the waste after the event. For your wedding with 140 guests, an open bar, and a full-day event, a restroom trailer is a suitable choice over standard units due to comfort and capacity. Ensure the trailer is placed on level ground to function properly.
