Porta Potty Forum

Porta potty for our family reunion got delivered with a sticky floor and a dirty seat. Normal, or do I ask for a swap?

Family reunion is Saturday at my brother's place out in the country, around 45 people for most of the day. We rented one standard unit and it got dropped off this afternoon, which was great, except when I opened the door the floor was sticky, there was a smear on the seat, and the paper roll was maybe half gone. The tank looked empty and the blue was in there, so I think it got pumped, just not really wiped down.

Is that how they normally go out after coming back from someone else's job, and I'm supposed to give it a once over myself? Or is it fair to call and ask them to clean it or swap it before Saturday? I don't want to be that customer, but I also don't want my aunt walking into that. What should a freshly delivered unit actually look like?

That is not normal. A freshly delivered standard unit should be clean inside, with a full roll of toilet paper, a clean seat, and a dry, non-sticky floor. The holding tank should be empty and contain fresh deodorizer.

You should call the rental company and ask for a cleaning or swap before your event. You are not being a difficult customer; you are expecting the basic standard of service you paid for. The driver likely performed a quick service visit to pump the tank but skipped the interior wipe-down. This is a failure on their part, not a standard practice.

Describe the condition clearly to the company. They should send a technician to properly sanitize the unit or replace it with a clean one. For your family reunion of 45 people, one standard unit is a reasonable count based on event guidelines, but its cleanliness is non-negotiable. Do not clean it yourself; that is the rental company's responsibility.
