Restroom trailer for a 3-day fall festival: does it need its own generator?

We're planning a three-day fall festival on a grass field, expecting around 800 people per day with food vendors and beer gardens. I'm renting a 4-stall restroom trailer with flushing toilets, sinks, and lighting. Our festival has power hookups, but the nearest outlet is about 100 feet from where the trailer needs to sit. The rental company suggested we get a generator for it, but I'm concerned about the noise disrupting the acoustic music sets and the extra cost. The ground is level, and a truck can access the spot for delivery and pumping. Do restroom trailers always need their own generator if power is available but far away? Are there quiet generator options, or is there a way to run extension cords safely over that distance?

A restroom trailer does not always need its own generator if power is available, but 100 feet is too far for standard extension cords. Restroom trailers require dedicated circuits for their flushing toilets, sinks, interior lighting and sometimes exterior lighting or climate control. Running multiple heavy-duty extension cords over that distance creates a tripping hazard for guests and risks voltage drop, which can damage the trailer's pumps and electrical systems. The rental company recommends a generator because it ensures reliable power without long cable runs.

For acoustic music, you can rent a quiet inverter generator enclosed in a sound-dampening case. These run at low decibel levels, similar to a normal conversation, and can be placed farther from stages. Ask your rental company about quiet generator options and their placement recommendations. The cost of a generator rental is driven by the power output needed, fuel consumption and the rental duration. It's a practical investment to avoid power failures that would shut down your restroom trailer during the festival.
