50-person crew, 10-hour days. Weekly or bi-weekly service?

We have a 50-person crew on a six-month commercial job in Phoenix. They work 10-hour days, Monday through Friday. The heat is intense. I ordered three standard portable toilets and one ADA-compliant unit, which meets the OSHA 1926.51 minimum for the crew size. The rental company is on a weekly service visit schedule. By Wednesday, the units are a mess. The holding tank is near full, and the smell is strong even with the deodorizer. The crew is complaining. Should I switch to a bi-weekly service, or is there a better setup for this kind of heavy use? Would a different type of unit hold up better?

Switch to more frequent service, not bi-weekly if that means every two weeks. Weekly is already failing you by Wednesday, so stretching the gap will only make the tanks worse.

Your four units (three standard plus one ADA) meet the OSHA 1926.51 toilet count for a 50-person crew. The standard calls for three toilets once you hit the 36 to 55 worker band. Count is not your problem. Fill rate is.

Fifty people on 10-hour days in Phoenix heat will push a holding tank hard. On commercial sites with similar headcount, weekly service visits only hold up when the crew is light or you have more cabinets than the minimum. When tanks are near full midweek, ask the operator for twice-a-week pumping and a fresh deodorizer charge each visit. Stick with standard units; swapping cabinet style will not fix an under-serviced tank.

Get the new cadence in writing so the route actually hits you before Wednesday.
