Porta Potty Forum

Our driveway gets torn out and poured Thursday and the remodel porta potty is sitting on it. Where does it go now?

We're halfway through gutting the hall bath and the crew's standard unit has been parked at the top of the old asphalt driveway since September. Problem is the driveway replacement finally got scheduled and they tear out and pour Thursday. The concrete guy told me nobody drives on it for a while after, and I'm guessing that includes the vacuum truck.

Our only other flat spot is the side yard, which is lawn and has been soggy all week. The front slopes down to the sidewalk.

Do I call the rental place to move it before demo, or do driveway crews usually just slide it out of the way themselves? And once the slab is cured, is it fine to put it back on the new concrete, or will the unit or the truck mark it up? Service is weekly on Tuesdays if that matters.

Call the rental company to move the standard unit before the driveway crew arrives Thursday. Do not let the concrete crew slide it themselves. They could damage the unit or the driveway forms, and rental contracts put relocation responsibility on the operator.

The side yard lawn is acceptable if the rental company uses boards or mats under the unit to distribute weight and prevent sinking. The vacuum truck needs firm access within 25 feet, so discuss the soggy conditions with them. They may bring equipment to stabilize the truck.

After the concrete cures fully (typically 7-28 days, ask your concrete contractor), the unit can return to the driveway. The unit itself won't mark concrete, but the service truck's tires might if the concrete is green. Coordinate with the rental company to avoid service until the concrete is ready for traffic.
